Install / Uninstall

Installation

FormulaBoost installs via a .msi installer file, which is the typical install wizard process used by Windows applications. The install wizard determines which version of Excel is installed on your PC including the bitness (32bit or 64bit) and enables the add-in so that it automatically loads when you open Excel.

The installer does not require administrator rights to run. This generally means you can run it on your company PC without contacting your IT department.

Simply download and run the installer. That's it.

Installer steps:

Click Next.

Read the end-user license agreement, and if you agree with it, click I accept then Next.

This is the default installation path, where 'username' will be your Windows username. Because the installer does not require administrator rights to run, you cannot install to certain locations, such as the C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86).

Click Install.

Click Finish.

The next time you open Excel, FormulaBoost will be available for use. No further action is required. You do not need to activate the free trial; it activates automatically.

To learn more about the free trial, see the free trial documentation page.

Uninstallation

There are two ways to properly uninstall FormulaBoost:

1. Using the Add or Remove Programs feature in Windows

On Windows 10, go to Settings > App > App & features then search for FormulaBoost in the list of applications.

Note: In previous versions of Windows, you can find these settings by searching for 'Add or Remove Program' from the start menu.

2. Using the same installer file used to install FormulaBoost

If you can find the .msi file used to install the version of FormulaBoost you are trying to uninstall, double-clicking it will present the remove option:

Click Remove to uninstall FormulaBoost.

Disable But Do Not Uninstall

Disabling the add-in from within Excel tells Excel to not load the add-in during start-up. This produces the same effect as uninstalling the add-in while allowing you to re-enable the add-in at a later time without having to reinstall the entire add-in itsef. When you disable the add-in no files or registry values are deleted from your computer.

To disable the add-in, follow these steps:

  1. Click the File tab, click Options, and then click the Add-Ins
  2. In the Manage box, click COM Add-ins, and then click Go. The COM Add-Ins dialog box appears.
  3. Deselect the checkbox for FormulaBoost and click OK. (To re-enable the add-in at a later time, check this checkbox.)
